Volvo Trucks North America Reports Record Clase 8 Market Share in Q4

Volvo Trucks Record Market Share

Volvo Trucks North America has reported a record 13.8% retail market share in the Clase 8 segment for the fourth quarter, the highest quarterly share in the company's history in the North American market. The achievement was driven primarily by robust demand for the VNL 860 long-haul tractor and the VNL 760 regional-haul model.

Sales Performance

Total Clase 8 retail deliveries for Volvo in Q4 reached approximately 15,200 units, a 12% increase over the same period last year. The company attributed the strong performance to its I-Shift automated manual transmission, which has become a key differentiator in the market. Over 92% of VNL trucks sold in Q4 were equipped with I-Shift, and customer satisfaction scores for the transmission exceed 95%.

Product Momentum

The updated VNL series, launched earlier this year with a refreshed interior and Volvo Dynamic Steering as standard equipment, has resonated strongly with owner-operators and small flota owners. The integration of the Volvo Active Driver Assist (VADA) safety system as standard across the lineup has also been a significant selling point, particularly as insurance companies begin offering premium discounts for trucks equipped with advanced safety systems.

Outlook

Volvo Trucks president Peter Voorhoeve stated that the company expects to maintain strong momentum through 2026, with a focus on expanding dealer network coverage and reducing order-to-delivery lead times, which currently average 14 weeks for standard-specification VNL tractors.
