International Trucks Launches Redesigned HX Series for Vocational Applications

International HX Series Redesign

Navistar has unveiled a substantially redesigned International HX Series, targeting the demanding vocational segments including construction, heavy haul, logging, and oil field services. The updated lineup includes the HX515, HX520, and HX620 models, all featuring a new chassis architecture designed for maximum durability and ease of upfitting.

Chassis and Frame

The new HX Series features a fully redesigned rail system made from 120,000 PSI yield-strength steel, providing a 15% improvement in frame rigidity compared to the previous generation. The frame rails are available in depths up to 11.5 inches, and the clean-top-of-rail design eliminates obstructions for body mounting. A new modular crossmember system allows for easier PTO installation and aftertreatment routing.

Cab Improvements

The set-back aluminum cab has been updated with improved corrosion resistance and a new HVAC system that provides 30% more airflow. The interior features a redesigned instrument panel with a 10-inch digital display, improved ergonomics for controls, and a new air-ride seat with integrated heating and ventilation. The cab-to-axle dimensions have been optimized to improve weight distribution for mixer and dump applications.

International A26 Engine Updates

The International A26 engine receives several updates for the vocational application, including a new high-par motor calibration delivering 515 HP and 1,850 lb-ft. The engine now features an improved oil filtration system and extended drain intervals up to 60,000 miles in vocational duty cycles. A new engine brake delivers 410 HP of retarding force, a 25% improvement over the previous design.
