ACT Research has reported that preliminary North American 8级 net truck orders reached 38,500 units in the most recent month, representing a 35% increase over the same period last year and the highest monthly order total since 2019. The surge signals the beginning of what industry analysts expect to be a robust replacement cycle.

Replacement Cycle Dynamics

The average age of the North American 8级 车队 has increased to 6.8 years, the oldest level in over a decade, as many 车队 operators delayed purchases during the 2023-2024 freight market downturn. With freight rates recovering and 车队 equipment aging, operators are now placing orders to refresh their 车队 ahead of the EPA 2027 standards, which will increase the cost of new trucks by an estimated $8,000 to $12,000 per unit.

All major OEMs have announced production increases to meet rising demand. DTNA is adding a second shift at its Cleveland plant, PACCAR is increasing output at its Renton and Chillicothe facilities, and Volvo/Mack is expanding capacity at its New River Valley, Virginia plant.
